What a fun and sweet surprise proposal!!! I definitely cried a little on this one. Here's the backstory. Like past San Diego destination surprise proposals, Pankaj found me on google and we instantly connected.
This weekend I had the honor of capturing Meghana and Avinash’s Temecula Indian Engagement Ceremony and celebration! And let me tell you, their engagement party was a meeting with the gods. Their day was so rich in their South Indian culture with a modern twist. Meghana and Avinash wanted a more intimate and laid-back setting to celebrate their engagement with 50 of their closest friends and family members. So, they booked the French Farmhouse Wine Country Escape which is nestled in the foothills of Temecula complete with a vineyard and so many gorgeous trees growing on the property.
Indian engagement parties are woven with ancient traditions — traditions that involve the exchange of fruits, the smells of ancient spices, the sight of vibrant colors, and loving third eye blessings from a joyful community. What I've learned, thanks to my amazing Indian clients, is that each region of the country has their own twist on the rituals and traditions. So a West Indian ceremony would be a little different than a South Indian ceremony, etc.
Meghana and Avinash’s love story start before they ever met in person. They have been following each other all over the world without even knowing it — from India, to Massachusetts, and onto San Diego. They lived in the same places at the same time and even had an encounter years back through a South Asian dating app when they were living on the east coast, but nothing ever came of the quick internet exchange.
After Meghana moved to San Diego she decided to get back on the dating app. In a serendipitous twist of fate, Avinash showed up again. Meghana recognized him and put it together that they had matched some years back on the app while they both were living on the east coast. However, this time they decided to meet. Love works in beautiful and mysterious ways, and after sharing their first date, they knew their love was everlasting.
Meghana was dreaming up a ceremony with a rustic theme and once we were driving up dirt roads to the farmhouse I could see her dream come alive. The house was so gorgeous and chic and the simple decor of babies breath and light pink roses on wooden farm tables in the reception space added the perfect rustic simplicity.
Meghana and Avinash, thank you for trusting me to capture your gorgeous memories and new beginnings. Your engagement ceremony was gorgeous. Everything felt so perfect in that moment and I hope you felt that way, too. Congratulations on your engagement and here is to many more fun things ahead!
