There is so much to say about Megan and Andrew’s Underground Elephant Wedding in San Diego. Talk about most genuine, unique, and creative wedding of the year! Seriously, an offbeat bride's dream.
I had so many favorite moments capturing this wedding with my team that it was exceptionally difficult to narrow down my favorite images for this sneak peak. So this is actually quite a longer post than usual.
We started out the day at a Cape Code Inspired Oceanfront Home overlooking Swamis. I grew up in Encinitas and have passed by these homes a gazillion times, but never had I stepped foot into one! The beachside Americana theme was so on point that it gave the start of the day a unique flavor while Megan finished getting ready with her ladies and Andrew put the finishing touches on with his groomsmen.
Megan and Andrew are unlike any couple I have ever met, and it’s hard to put my finger on the multidimensional loveliness which is them. Throughout the course of the wedding planning process and of course during our engagement session at Torrey Pines State Reserve (which was a ton of fun) I’ve gotten to know them as a couple. Heck, they got engaged at Burning Man if that doesn't speak to the original and creative beings that these two science buffs embody. Everything I loved about them and how sweet they were to each other when I first met them for the engagement session was amplified on the day of their wedding.
And so was the love from every single person who was invited to witness their union in this artsy warehouse co-working space. The families and friends who came to the wedding love the heck out of them and it was so abundantly obvious and glorious. I definitely shed a couple of happy tears during this wedding during the ceremony and the speeches. Megan and Andrew are one of a kind, truly. If they were a band you would recognize their sound the minute you heard the first note over the radio.
And I still can't get over the way that these two looked at each other on the day of their wedding, between all the silliness (which there was plenty of). But the love that these two have for each other and the people who love them are like a finished puzzle. Everything just felt perfect.
The flow of the day was totally nontraditional and not obvious. They got ready in this gorgeous beachside mansion. They Ubered over to the venue space. Megan walked down the aisle with her dad to Star Wars. Then the rest of the night was a free-flowing party — no formal seating whatsoever. Toasts and first dances were beyond lovely — which both ended in group dancing and impromptu group polka dancing from the mother-son dance.
Congratulations Megan and Andrew! It was such an honor to be the one to capture all these beautiful memories for you. I feel so filled up from this day and I hope you do, too. You have been nothing but a joy to serve! Love ya guys!
