Being out in nature without cell phone reception is such a blessing and curse. I'm not going to lie to you, my cell phone goes with me everywhere, but during this Big Bear Camping Trip weekend getaway my cell phone might as well have been a twig on the ground. I powered that sucker down as I always do when I go camping and took in the vast landscapes of mother nature. I cherish these moments so much when I'm forced to unplug, especially out in such a beautiful place like Big Bear.
I have fond memories of going up to Big Bear as a kid with my folks for snowboarding trips, but I honestly can't remember ever considering going there for a summer camping trip. When my friend Taryn, the boss babe behind Great Woodland Photography, invited us up for her hubby's birthday we couldn't resist!
One of my all-time favorite pastimes is sitting around the campfire. So much great conversation and music happens during these enchanting moments. What made this trip even more special was that we got to make new friends with some more extraordinary boss babes (like yoga teacher Teague from White Peacock Yoga, baker Stephanie of Night Owls Baking Co., and real estate & marketing guru Megan Northrop just to name a few) who were game to entertain me in light painting which is when you use long exposure and a bright light to create drawings in the sky at night. I love playing with this photographic technique and it's always fun to see how creative people can get!
We only went for an overnight, but sometimes that's all you need. Enjoy the photos.
