When I get to hang out with two brilliant and colorful souls it lights me up. That’s the evening I got to spend with Meg and Andrew during this Torrey Pines State Reserve Engagement Session.
Meg and Andrew are science nerds, burners, and 100% perfect for each other. Their story begins at UCDavis when Meg TA’d a chemistry class Andrew was taking. Since there are very strict regulations in colleges, they did not speak any words of affection until after the class was over. Andrew asked Meg on a date, which she wasn’t sure was a date, until it was a date. The two have been together for over five years now involving themselves in each others lives as they live, work, and school in Colorado.
One of the things I love about this couple is the way their unique story has unfolded. Megan proposed to Andrew at Burning Man, getting down on one knee in her amazing outfit (which happened to have a malfunction), and asking for Andrew’s hand in marriage. This offbeat proposal is so them and although I have yet to see a video (hint hint, Meg, I want to see the video!! lol), I can see it happening in my mind. The best part, Andrew proposed back. Gahhhh.
When I asked Meg if their love story was a movie, which movie would it be? She answered, “Mad Max?” Just kidding! What’s the most introverted love story you can think of?” That line had me in stitches and when I finally met Meg and Andrew for the first time I was so excited to see how that introversion has blossomed into such an intimate, quirky, playful, and oftentimes, humorous relationship, with a sprinkle of introversion. They are so stinkin' cute together!
Meg wanted a dramatic beach landscape so we ubered to Torrey Pines and found the light amongst the California native plants. I absolutely adored their first outfit. Meg rocked a white lacy short dress with hiking sandals and Andrew wore a light button-up, slacks, and brown leather shoes. People were definitely staring cause this couple was glowing in the light as it peaked through the clouds. Their second outfit choice was more casual, and much more them! Meg joked that she wanted to have that sweet beach shot that everyone gets, but she wanted it in their matching hippie tie-dyed shirts. So we raced the sun down to the sand to capture her vision.
Meg and Andrew, thanks for letting me paparazzi this adventure date with you! I so appreciate how we all were able to go with the flow of the evening and I absolutely loved getting to bond with you over yogurt afterward (had we only guessed the right price!!!!). Sooo excited for your wedding next year (Pantone color of the year!!! It's your year!!). In the meantime, enjoy your sneak peek!
